We are a collection of mature adults who enjoy a casual atmosphere while playing the game we love. The Defenders of Paragon is a Super Group composed of experienced City of Heroes players who enjoy the team experience and want to generate a like-minded pool to of players. Most of us are experienced players who have been playing COH since commercial release. Each of us takes pride in our ability to work as a team and play well together, and we are looking for knowledgeable, mature players to join our nightly groups.
We are also one of oldest and most active supergroups on the server. May 1st will be our one year anniversary. We are not your typical fly-by-night group that never seems to do anything. We have our own website and our discussion boards are very active. We even have our own store, so you can purchase DoP memorabilia!
We discourage power gamers and power levelers. The DoP is a fairly casual group of adults who play when we get the chance. We pride ourselves on tactics and teamwork, like a good supergroup should. Our players are mature gamers who understand that at the end of the day, its our real lives that count. No one will ever grief you for the demands of real life.
As the majority of us are either on the East Coast or the Midwest, our highest concentrations of players will occur between 9:00PM and 1:00AM Eastern. On the other hand, we have a fair number of West Coasters so you shouldn’t have too much difficulty finding someone to play with.
The DoP recruits players (people), not heroes. We’re interested in learning about you the human being, not merely about one of your heroes. We will, of course, induct your primary hero (the hero you spend the most time playing – sometimes called a “main”) into the DoP. As your primary hero is a gauge of how often you play COH, if that hero is not played for 20 or more days, than you (the person) will be booted from the Defenders of Paragon.
Almost all of our membership plays with multiple heroes. The primary means of communication with your fellow DoP members is our private Global Chat Channel. We have no issue with any of your ALTs being in a different supergroup or your heroes on a different server being in a different supergroup. Our goal is to promote an active community of players that are active in, and loyal to, the Defenders of Paragon. Please do not apply if you are currently a member of another major supergroup like the Simians or the Conglomerate. Unless, of course, you are a designated ambassador. If you are, we’d love to hear from you -- we’re very interested in staying connected with like-minded supergroups.
We have a few rules that we require all our members to live by:
1. We will remove any person from the Defenders of Paragon that is inactive for 20+ days.
2. This is a friendly and cohesive Supergroup; as such, members should be aware that we often enjoy grouping with one another and participating in events as they transpire, planned or not. As such, we encourage each member to play an active role from time to time being a Defender of Paragon: visit the boards regularly, communicate with your fellow Supergroup members, plan activities you'd like to see done, etc. Understand that our space is limited and that if you are not interested in being part of our community than perhaps the DoP is not for you. Members who are obviously not participating are subject to removal from the DoP based on the decision of the leadership.
3. If you have a problem with another member of the DoP, please contact an officer or leader via an email or private message. Do not post your grievance on our forums. The DoP leadership will investigate the situation and take the appropriate action.
4. Do not bad mouth other Supergroups or players IN ANY PUBLIC FORUM OR CHAT SYSTEM. If you have an incident please contact and officer or leader via email or private message. The DoP leadership will investigate the situation and take the appropriate action.
5. We will not tolerate characters with offensive or non role-playing names in our family. (Such as: Pimp, Assmaster, LEEt NiNJA, Iron-Man, K1ckAss d00d).
6. Never leave a teammate behind! If we are done hunting at the end of the night, and we have to leave a nasty zone, make sure that everyone has an escort or can get out. ESPECIALLY those that may have been side kicked!
7. Be courteous and kind to all opponents in the Arena regardless of their level of maturity. Keep in mind that you are representing the Defenders of Paragon at all times.
What we are not:
• We have no “theme.” You can be any type of hero you’d like. We will never restrict you to a specific AT or origin. You don’t have to be a “healer” or a “monkey” or a “ninja” to join.
• We have no costume requirements. You can design your costume any way you’d like. However, we don’t want to be embarrassed by immature or blatant copyright infringement costumes.
• We won’t tell you how to build your character. We think everybody should have a travel power, but beyond that, they are your heroes, build them any way you’d like.
• We have no mandatory meetings.
• In general, we are not role-players. That’s not to say that we frown on role-players (we have a specific forum to role-play to your heart's content) its just that we don’t currently have many role-players in our group. Though we encourage role-players to apply in the hopes of building a stronger RP community.
• We have never used Teamspeak.
• We have no geographical or gender limitations.
